The sunset forecast is Sol's prediction of tonight's colour: little, some, good or exceptional.
It weighs the cloud overhead, the cloud to the west and the air between, from the same weather forecast twice a day.

You stand at the middle of your horizon. The dots are the sun’s path today, warm where the light turns golden; the stage opens at sunset. Slide through the day, or drag the sky to turn it.
How Sol measures it.
Sol issues the forecast at least an hour before sunset and never rewrites it; what the sky then does can be recorded against it in Sky observations, and every forecast is kept in the open. The four words are deliberately few: a forecast that says more than it knows is worth less than one that says exactly what it does.
